Alexandre Gama

Worldwide Chief Creative Officer / BBH

 

Ale is one of the most renowned names in the creative business in Brazil. His background is Copywriting and he's the most awarded and recognized copywriter of his generation.

Started at Ogilvy and later joined DM9 where he stayed until 1994 leaving to become partner and to co-lead ALMAP/BBDO, with 2 other partners. In 1996 he left to take the President/CEO position and Member of Global Board position at Y&R, coordinating the agency's operations with those of Wunderman, becoming the first creative professional in the country having two different communication disciplines at his command.

In 1999, Ale Gama left to start his own agency: NEOGAMA, the most successful agency start up in the industry in the last 15 years.

NEOGAMA and BBH came together in 2002 and in the words of John Hegarty: “If we had to start an agency in Brazil by ourselves, it would be NEOGAMA”.

Winner of many awards, such as 22 Cannes Lions, D&AD Yellow Pencil, CLIO, One Show and NY Art Directors amog others.

Awarded Creative Professional of the Year in 1996.

Leader of “Agency of the Year” in 2002.

Awarded Entrepreneur and Leader of the Communication Industry of the Year in 2007.

Nominated  Entrepreneur and Leader of the Communication Industry of the Year in 2012.

Nominated to Advertising Man of the Year 2012 by ABP (Brazilian Association Agencies).

Only adman in the yearly list "Men of the Year-2012" of national magazine ALFA.

This year, Ale was invited by John Hegarty to take over his position as Worldwide Chief Creative Officer of the BBH global network.

Ale Gama writes regularly to a wine magazine and a car magazine. He plays the guitar, is married to the artist Claudia Issa and has two daughters - Luiza and Stella, that constantly remind him of the BBH motto: “Daddy, staying late at the office is zig. Rushing back home is zag.”
