Mauricio Rocha

Chief Creative Officer /  Tapsa/Y&R Madrid

 

Mauricio Rocha is a Publicity major from Jorge Tadeo Lozano University. He got his professional start at SSA BATES, where he put in 1 year as a creative copywriter apprentice.

His career then got off the ground at Leo Burnett where he moved up from Junior Creative Copywriter to Creative Director in 9 years. While there, he was at the forefront of award-winning ad campaigns that garnered prizes at major international festivals in Cannes, at London and New York Festivals, at the Clios, Fiap and Ojo de Iberoamérica. 

Rocha’s flair extended around Leo Burnett’s Latino-Gulf network to impact ad-campaign innovation in The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Mexico. He spent 2007 stationed at Leo Burnett headquarters in Chicago.

During his sweeping career, he has produced creative ad campaigns for such world-renowned companies as McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Johnnie Walker, Sab Miller, Procter & Gamble, Kellogg’s, Toyota, Honda, Seguros Bolívar insurance agency, Homecenter big-box stores, Telefónica, Movistar, The Office of the President of Colombia and Bancolombia bank.

In 2009, he was named one of 12 Most Insightful Creative Ibero-americans and he captured the title of Best Creative Ad Man in Colombia. He was General Creative Director at DDB, Colombia up until September 2010. In 2011, he was named one of 15 Most Insightful Creative Ibero-americans.

Mauricio Rocha has been conferred numerous awards over the course of his career at major advertising festivals, such as Cannes Lions, ONE SHOW, LIA Festival, New York Festival, Fiap, Wave, Ojo de Iberoamérica, Nova, Slide Prix-Young Lions. 

He has been at the helm of the Y&R creative process as Creative Vice-president at Young & Rubicam Brands Colombia for the last year and a half. During this time, the agency took 5th place as the Best Ibero-american Ad Agencies at FIAP 2012, as well as became one of the 3 Best Creative Offices in the Y&R regional network. In the latest Crema ranking, Y&R Colombia was named 10th top best agency in the Spanish-speaking world. Two years ago, Rocha was appointed as representative of the Y&R global creative board.

At the beginning of 2015, Mauricio started working for Tapsa-Young and Rubicam Madrid as Chief Creative Officer.
