Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy & Mather, London
Gerry joined O&M London in January 2009, initially to oversee Unilever Worldwide – where his major focus was on Dove’s real beauty campaign. In 2011 he took on his current role as creative head of the ad agency.
Since then O&M London has garnered over 30 Lions, across multiple media platforms including community applications, integrated social media, film, radio, press and outdoor; for major brands like Dove, Expedia, Philips and Amnesty International.
Expedia was not only named “most awarded print campaign in the world” by the 2013 Gunn report, but also collected a coveted effectiveness lion in 2014.
Hailing from South Africa, Gerry worked at TBWA Hunt Lascaris and Net#workBBDO before starting his own agency, HarrisonHuman - which was named agency of the year in 2001 and 2002 and acquired by Ogilvy in 2003.
He has served on many international award juries including Cannes Lions and D&AD, where he was jury foreman in 2015.
He is the recipient of over 80 Cannes Lions, but is most proud of the whisky tumbler bestowed upon him by the gutter bar – in honour of being the last customer of the “night”.
