Mark Fitzloff

Executive Creative Director / Wieden+Kennedy Portland

Mark Fitzloff was born in Wisconsin and lived there just long enough to claim Midwestern roots before moving to the West Coast, where he belonged.

Mark came to Wieden+Kennedy as a copywriter in 1999, doing award-winning work for Nike and other clients. But it was while working on Coca-Cola that he found his true talent, breathing fresh life into old, iconic American brands and reminding us what we love about them.

This talent served him especially well as creative director on Old Spice. Mark set the vision for brand and ran the business for the first four years of the campaign. The result has been some of the best work to come out of the Portland office in years and one of the funniest, most enduring campaigns in advertising.

In 2008, Mark was appointed to the Portland management team as executive creative director and made a partner soon after. His ability to lead work that both wins awards and pushes the client’s bottom line has served him well in this role, particularly on iconic brands like Levi’s and Nike, as well as on clients like Chrysler and P&G, which are in categories not historically associated with provocative creative work.

Under his leadership, Portland rapidly grew to an office of over 600 people and earned a number of distinguished awards including Cannes Agency of the Year in 2011 as well as honors from several leading industry organizations and publications. He has also been one of the most award-winning creatives on Creativity’s Awards Report for the past several years.

In 2013, Mark was named to the global management team as global co-executive creative director, charged with articulating how Wieden+Kennedy is different to clients around the globe and helping to ensure the company stays so.

After a year and a half of living in hotels and airport lounges, Mark recently returned to his dream job, running the Portland headquarters of Wieden+Kennedy.

Mark and his wife, Courtney, have a son named Max and a daughter named Mia.
